Some of us are unfortunate to experience excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis from when we are young. Sadly, the causes remain largely unknown. Sweating is important in regulating our body temperature, often called the ‘silent handicap’. Whether you perspire under your arms, palms, feet or head, it can severely diminish your quality of life. The good news is that there is a solution to this chronic problem.

Excessive sweating treatment is a non-surgical procedure designed to reduce sweat production in areas affected by hyperhidrosis. The treatment works by relaxing the communication between the nerves and sweat glands, preventing the glands from releasing excessive sweat.
This treatment is commonly used for underarm sweating, sweaty palms, sweaty feet, and forehead or scalp perspiration. It is suitable for people who experience sweating that affects clothing, confidence, work, social comfort, or daily activities.
A neuromodulator is injected into the targeted area using very fine needles. Once placed into the skin, it temporarily blocks the chemical signals that tell the sweat glands to become active. As a result, sweat production is reduced in the treated area while normal body temperature regulation continues through other sweat glands.
The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and requires little downtime. Most patients can return to their usual routine soon after treatment, while avoiding heavy exercise and heat exposure for the first 24 hours.
Excessive sweating treatment may be used on:
Your doctor will assess the affected area, sweating severity, medical history, and treatment goals before recommending a suitable approach.
Typically starts under arms as a teenager or young adult. There is no clear indicator as to why it happens. The nervous system triggers sweat glands to constantly produce perspiration, even if your body temperature is normal. Most antiperspirants are not strong enough, and you can see stains on your clothing.
Hyperhidrosis may be reduced by up to 90%. Initial results will be seen as quickly as 2–4 days after the treatment. The best results will be evident approximately 2 weeks after the procedure. Over the next 4–12 months, you may experience significantly reduced perspiration. A touch-up every so often can help improve your quality of life dramatically.
To confirm hyperhidrosis, you must consult the doctor at Maris Aesthetic Clinic. Your history is reviewed to confirm if it is hyperhidrosis. If your family has a history of it, and you experience sweating for more than six months (even when cold) or a minimum of once a week – you may be a candidate for treatment.
