Process

Before Care

• Consult our doctor to determine if the treatment suits your lips type and concerns.
• Refrain from IPL or laser treatments, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn at least two weeks before the Dermapen procedure.
• Avoid electrolysis, waxing, or depilatory lotions in the treatment area five to seven days before the procedure.
• Do not shave on the day of the surgery to prevent lips irritation.
• Avoid sun exposure or tanning for at least a week before the treatment.
• Avoid using topical creams, lotions, or other lip care products that contain active ingredients such as retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), and beta-hydroxy acids (BHA) for several days before the treatment.
• Stop using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or blood-thinning medications at least one week before the treatment.
• Inform the aesthetician or dermatologist if you have any active lips infections, cold sores, or open wounds in the treatment area.
• Arrive for the treatment with clean, makeup-free lips.
• Drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy diet to ensure your lips are well-hydrated and nourished before the treatment.

During Treatment

• The nurse thoroughly cleanses your lips.
• The appropriate needle depth is selected based on the specific lips concern being treated.
• The Dermapen device has a sterile, disposable tip cartridge containing 11 tiny needles.
• The device is then activated, and the vertical tip stamps the lips, creating micro-injuries that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin.
• The needles move quickly up and down, puncturing the lips’ surface and creating tiny, evenly-spaced channels.
• The depth and speed of the needles are controlled to ensure even coverage and avoid excessive damage to the lips.
• After the treatment, the lips may be slightly red, tender, and swollen for a few days.
• Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure and wear high-quality sunscreen for several days after the treatment.

After Care

• Dermapen treatment causes the lips to become sensitive due to the opening of microchannels.
• Avoid using any products that could irritate the lips.
• Apply a high-SPF sunscreen or avoid exposure to the sun.
• Use only light makeup and gentle lips care products during the healing process.
• Avoid rigorous activity, saunas, and steam rooms.
• After the treatment, the lips may be slightly red, tender, and swollen for a few days.
• Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure and wear high-quality sunscreen for several days after the treatment.

Side effects

• You may experience lips redness or erythema.
• There is a possibility of spot bleeding.
• You may notice some light swelling the next day.
• Post-procedure treatment provided by Dermapen can help reduce swelling and redness.
